The Harold Peary Show : ウィキペディア英語版 | The Harold Peary Show
''The Harold Peary Show'' was a radio situation comedy broadcast in the United States September 17, 1950-June 13, 1951 on CBS.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/DigitalDeliToo/dd2jb-Harold-Peary-Show.html )〕 Some sources refer to the program as ''Honest Harold''〔Dunning, John. (1998). ''On the Air: The Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio''. Oxford University Press. ISBN 978-0-19-507678-3. Pp. 296, 327.〕 or ''The Hal Peary Show''.〔Terrace, Vincent (1981), ''Radio's Golden Years: The Encyclopedia of Radio Programs 1930-1960''. A.S. Barnes & Company, Inc. ISBN 0-498-02393-1. P. 112.〕〔Buxton, Frank and Owen, Bill (1972). ''The Big Broadcast: 1920-1950''. The Viking Press. SBN 670-16240-x. P. 106.〕 ==Background== The period 1948-1950 brought major changes to network radio, as CBS hired a number of stars from NBC in what some have called "talent raids."〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.radioreruns.com/1945_1952.html )〕 Some of the top performers who changed networks were Jack Benny, Red Skelton, Edgar Bergen, and the husband-and-wife duo George Burns and Gracie Allen. One result of the changes was that 12 of the 15 highest rated radio programs at the end of 1949 were on CBS.〔Hilmes, Michele, (ed.) (2007). ''NBC: America's Network''. University of California Press. ISBN 978-0-520-25079-6. P. 155. 〕 Harold Peary did not find such success, however. Peary switched to CBS, while the program in which he had starred, ''The Great Gildersleeve'', stayed on NBC. Those changes resulted in a new program (''The Harold Peary Show'') for Peary and a new star (Willard Waterman) for ''Gildersleeve''. Radio historian John Dunning commented that ''The Harold Peary Show'' "failed to gain any measure of an audience in its lone season."〔
